Who doesn’t love a baked good or sweet treat every now and then?

Here’s my simplified list of paleo friendly, gluten free wholefood substitutions for common ingredients required in making delicious desserts.

  1. Granulated sugar – Coconut sugar
  2. Sugar syrup – Maple syrup/honey
  3. Lite margarine – Butter/coconut oil
  4. White flour – Quinoa/buckwheat flour
  5. Corn flour/starch – Tapioca/arrowroot
  6. Chocolate chips – Cacao nibs
  7. Caramel sauce – Fresh medjool dates, almond milk, and water blended
  8. Skim milk – Coconut/nut milk
  9. Oats – Quinoa flakes
  10. Biscuits (for bases) – Almonds/nuts and dried fruit processed together
