Friday Night In with Charlie De Haas from Clean Treats aka #charliesballs + a GIVEAWAY
Often I seek out individuals or companies to share with you for these Friday Night In posts. But last year Charlie found me. We spoke on and off for a while and she kindly featured me on her site. Ever since that first communication I have always been so intrigued by Charlie. She has such a tenacity and spice for life. A drive you don't often see, and kind hearted spirit thats hard to come by. We both have crazy busy schedules but I caught up with Charlie recently as I knew she needed to be on the blog! As one of her main gigs, Charlie has created Clean Treats. Now, we all love a treat here and there. Charlies? Well, they're the best balls I've tasted! Ha!
With flavours like peanut butter, lemon creme, chocolate brownie and cranberry coconut - how could you resist? They're also gluten, dairy, refined sugar, and preservative free!
Want to know how to win yourself some of Charlie's balls? Keep reading!
Happy Friday Night In!
Please share a little about yourself…..
Im the creator of Clean Treats aka #charliesballs, a health coach and speaker. A love sharer. A dreamer. An inspired soul. I believe we can create a change in the world by sharing love, focusing on the beauty of life and remembering its the little things that count; a smile, nature, simply breathing.
What would your job title be?
Director Clean Treats. Health Coach. Author. Speaker.
How did your business come about?
Clean Treats aka #charliesballs kind of just happened. I previously made treats for the seminars I would hold as a way to show my clients that healthy food could be delish. Now, 6 months later I have 60 stockists nationwide, and BIG dreams. I also host seminars in high schools and work with Beautiful Minds teenage events.
The most rewarding part of your job? Speaking. Educating. Holding someones hand in their time of need. Life isnt always easy and to inspire someone to believe they can create change, to be more, fills my heart with love.
To know that when someone chooses a #charliesball instead of a chemical/preservative based product...I believe these small actions can make a healthy change.
What haven’t you done yet that you wish you could?
Im unsure. Everything is exactly as it should be, hopefully soon Ill be releasing the next stage for Clean Treats which Im SO excited about.
Perhaps, jump out of a plane, but Im scared of heights.
Or find a tall, dark, handsome man...seems to be a shortage?
Favourite place in the world?
My home. Mt Maunganui, New Zealand, the most beautiful place in the world.
If you were a spice, which would you be?
Interesting question. Id probably have to say Chilli, good for you in small doses...too much, well, not as fun ;)
5 things you can’t live without?
Chlorophyll, my go to everyday to assist my body to alkalise.
Im absolutely loving my new Nuzest natural Vanilla protein.
Water. As much as its a conscious effort for me to drink 3 litres...it changes the way I feel, think and am.
Running. Because you need nothing, just you, your body and the earth.
The beautiful support Im receiving from the world around me.
If you could choose to eat anything in the world for your next meal, what would it be?
This is a little difficult as Im currently trying to break my sugar addiction (addicted to my own product), without hesitation it would be my own RAW caramel slice. A meal...A rainbow salad from O Organic and a green Warrior smoothie.
What was for breakfast?
Today, a spinach & pear egg white omelette (1 full organic egg). A long black with coconut oil.
How would you classify your eating style?
As im building my business its been quite sporadic. Ive been quite open about sharing my struggle with this. Ive just started a 12 week program with Chris Dufey to focus on rebalancing my hormones (I love to work out, often over training and creating adrenal stress/sugar cravings). I eat clean, dont follow any particular ‘trend’.
Your favourite way to stay active?
Anything I feel. Ive gotten to a stage that I can ask myself what I feel like doing. Im adoring boxing at the moment and Im getting back into my running. i do love a circuit weight session.
What are your essentials for healthy living?
Self love is number 1. If you do not care for yourself, love yourself, how can you expect to give love to anyone else. You are your best investment.
Body brushing, best way to assist your Lymphatic system.
I love morning walking with a motivational audio book, or inspiring music such as India Arie (I actually use her music to sing to my #balls and infuse them with love).
Cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Every night spend time focusing on 3 things that you are grateful for. What we focus on grows. Being thankful will allow more good into your life. Appreciate all that you have right now.
Journal. Life is a beautiful struggle. I find writing gets me out of my own head. Sometimes things that I can create a huge drama of are really not much at all, its when theyre written in front of me I can see/think more clearly.
If you could speak to your 13 year old self and offer some words of wisdom, what would you say?
Be yourself. Stop trying to fit in, to be accepted. Everything will be ok (I had troubled teenage years).
Your best advice for living a wholesome, healthy lifestyle?
Live for the moment. Today. Every meal. Make healthy choices. Stop dieting!!! Cannot stress this enough. And learn to listen to your body. Are you grumpy, emotional when you dont get enough sleep (I am), make a focus to get to bed earlier and get a minimum of 8 hrs. your body will always tell you what it needs, learn to listen.
My brand belief; Be REAL, not FAKE, in what you eat and who you are. Forget about restrictions, just eat more real food, sweat everyday, hydrate and rest.
