Friday Night In with Tamara from Eminence Organics
As the Director of Eminence Organic Skin Care, Tamara spends her days immersed in what is literally the equivalent of luxurious food for your face (and body). I discovered this brand last year on my search for organic skin care that still smelt as delicious as the chemically concocted ones. As scratch and sniff computer screens haven't yet been developed, here's a list of products from their range instead:
- Chocolate Mousse Hydration Mask
- Mimosa Champagne Massage Oil
- Pink Grapefruit Clarifying Mask
- Mango Night Cream
- Coconut Sugar Scrub
- Cocoa Latte Tinted Moisturiser
- Key Lime and Vanilla Age-defying Mask
Handmade in Budapest, Hungary from organic herbs, essential oils, and yes, whole fruits, vegetables and seeds. "The ingredients are cold pressed and blended together over a number of hours at room temperature without any hydrogenation processes. This guarantees the delivery of all the precious vitamins and minerals ensuring your skin receives the most potent concentration of antioxidants and bioflavonoids possible."
Truly divine, handcrafted skin care.
So tonight meet the very lovely Tamara, the woman who oversees the running of Eminence Organics in Australia.
Have a wonderful long weekend and a very Happy Easter! Don't forget to hint a Chocolate Mousse Hydration Mask to the Easter Bunny!
How did Eminence Organics come about?
The Eminence tradition begin more than 50 years ago in a small countryside village where herbalists’ knowledge of local herbs, fruits and vegetables was used to treat various ailments. This unique understanding of medicinal plants was extended to treat the skin and resulted in a collection of effective treatments that have stood the test of time for today’s organic enthusiasts and results-oriented customers.
The most rewarding part of your job?
I love it when someone new finds out about Eminence and it’s a really special experience for them. I can sleep at night knowing what fantastic skin they are going to achieve without compromising their health.
What haven’t you done yet that you wish you could?
I would love to be fluent in another language and I would like to reach my optimum health and fitness level. The language may or may not occur but I am certainly getting much closer to my health and fitness goals.
Favourite place in the world?
Oh that is so hard.... Locally it would have to be Kingscliff NSW and surrounding hinterland where my husband and I married and spend many a long weekend when we get the chance. Internationally I can't go past the Maldives. We have an Eminence stockist there and I get to go to a stunning resort for a week every 18 months. It’s breathtaking every time. The most picture postcard perfect place in the world.
If you were a spice, which would you be?
Paprika features heavily in Eminence products for obvious reasons and so I think there is chance I could become a paprika from putting it on my face for the last 10 years.
5 things you can’t live without?
My husband (must put first in case he reads this), my fur child, coconut in any form, sky juice (water) and my tempur-pedic bed.
If you could choose to eat anything in the world for your next meal, what would it be?
Slow cooked pulled Mexican pork layered with guacamole, sweet potato wedges, spicy tomato salsa and coriander.
What was for breakfast?
I am writing this from Fremantle WA and we had breakfast this morning at a place called The Raw Kitchen. I had a buckwheat crepe with wild mushrooms and asparagus, truffle oil and porcini dust with a rocket side salad. My cappuccino was made on cashew, macadamia and date milk. Yep, heaven.
How would you classify your eating style?
I would say I am a combination of paleo lifestyle with some raw food thrown in. We try and achieve 1 raw meal and 2 paleo approved meals each day.
Your favourite way to stay active?
Anything in the fresh air and preferably with our ridgeback pooch tagging along.
What are your top 5 favourites from the Eminence Organics range?
That’s really hard because there are around 160 products to choose from. OK this is my top hit list:
Red Currant Exfoliating Cleanser
Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant
Strawberry Rhubarb Masque
Lavender Age Corrective Night Concentrate
Tinted Moisturiser in Vanilla Latte
Your best advice for looking after your skin?
Very similar to the advice I would give someone on the food we should be eating :)
Variety. It’s really important to remember that while the skin is active and responds when we do something different to it; it also has an ability to become unresponsive or plateau if we stick to the same product routine day in and day out for years. My rule of thumb is to make sure you change your active products (moisturisers and serums) at least 3 times per year and your eye cream twice per year. This frequency gives the skin a chance to respond in a positive way to the ingredients but you aren’t allowing the plateau stage to occur before you change and give the skin a little shock again. This keeps the skin glowing and healthy and never dull. In my opinion this is the best way to keep ageing at bay. This is another reason I love Eminence. The choices can be overwhelming but its fun choosing and trying different products.
