Cherida and I met at a business event in Sydney. We hit it off straight away and were instantly chatting like old friends. When I learnt more about what she does, I knew I had to share it with you! How did your business come about? 

I moved to Sydney last year, having spent the last 5 years in Perth working in the events industry (I was originally a personal trainer and Yogalates teacher). Living in Sydney's eastern suburbs I found myself immersed in all things health and fitness, which reignited my love and passion for this industry. So in October of last year I launched Yoga Pilates Active (YP Active).

 

The most rewarding part of your job? 

Being able to spread the awareness and many benefits not just of Yoga and Pilates but health and fitness in general.

 

What haven’t you done yet that you wish you could?

 My mind actually races when I read this question, I almost feel there are so many answers to this but I don't know where to start! From new destinations to travel, to business growth, to taking my Mum on a overseas holiday - so perhaps in my case my answer to this question should be to actually work out the ONE thing that I haven't done yet that I wish I could!

 

Favourite place in the world?

 I love NYC 'the city that never sleeps'. There is so much going on, so much to see and do; its such an exciting place - and the shopping is AMAZING! But then again I also can't go past Italy such an attractive country, gorgeous scenery with lots of history and great food and wine.

 

If you were a spice, which would you be? 

I would say Cinnamon: it doesn't discriminate, its both savoury and sweet, just a sprinkle makes all the difference ;-)

 

5 things you can’t live without? 

clean eating, exercise, friends, family, positive attitude

 

If you could choose to eat anything in the world for your next meal, what would it be? 

I can't go past wild-caught Atlantic salmon - it has to be my favourite!

 

What was for breakfast? 

Today I actually had a late breakfast, so we'll call it brunch! Poached eggs on rye toast with wilted kale and baby spinach.

 

How would you classify your eating style?

 Clean and healthy but I'm not vegetarian and I do eat carbs! I'm a believer of everything (to an extent) in moderation.

 

Your favourite way to stay active? 

Yoga and Pilates (obviously) combined with weekly training session at the gym and a balance of cardio. I make sure my weekly workouts combine working with body weight as resistance, free weights and cardio.....variation is KEY. Train hard. Train different!

 

Who is YP Active for? 

Anyone and everyone can do it as it's really a workout for each individuals own strength, stamina, flexibility and mental state. 

 

Your favourite place to practice yoga and pilates?

 I am a beach girl at heart so I'd have to say beach (however not so much in winter!)

 

Your best advice for living a wholesome, healthy lifestyle?  Eat clean, be active and love your life!
