Friday Night In with Janel from Dietlicious
I had the pleasure of sampling a delicious range of health conscious delivery meals from Dietlicious for the last week. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen a couple, but if you didn't let me share with you my experience.
Please note, that while the meals were generously provided for me to sample free of charge, I would never post anything on here that was not 100% honest or my own opinion.
A quick courtesy text message to say my delivery was nearby and within 10 minutes I had a lovely lady at my door (I'm sorry I didn't get her name!) and a big box of ready to go meals frozen fresh for my convenience.
I received a 5 day salad pack, salmon, ocean trout, beef, chicken and tuna main dishes, a mixed berry cacao smoothie and gluten free amaranth muesli. My first impression was that the mains were a little on the smaller side, but once cooked and on the plate with a nice side salad, it was actually the perfect portion! My hunger was kept at bay and I really felt satisfied. The dishes are hearty and warming with meals like Chicken cacciatore with quinoa and Arabian beef slow cooked w almond + tahini.
Whose behind it?
The head chef, Sebastien Houillon, works with the dietitian to create delicious dishes that support weight loss and weight maintenance goals. They source local fresh produce straight from the markets, and cook everything from scratch, so all their dishes are natural and preservative + additive free. You'll also find dairy free and Low GI meals,
I was curious to find out more about the owner of this affordable and tasty delivery service and thought you might be too. So tonight stay warm and spend your Friday Night In with the down to earth Janel Horten.
How did Dietlicious come about?
I started cooking when my Dad made me an oven with red painted stove rings when I was 4 years old. Later, as a teenager I hijacked my mum’s kitchen and started making homemade Rum Baba’s (classic French dessert cake) which I sold to Sydney’s leading restaurants. So I’ve always had a love of cooking.
However, when I moved into the cut throat world of finance my diet became a complete disaster, because I had no time to plan, shop or cook. Plus I realised I wanted to do something I was passionate about. So I swapped the suit and stilettos for an apron + Dietlicious was born.
