Don't let this McDonald's ad fool you
40% of your daily intake of energy/calories. In one meal. Not only that, its an onslaught of additives, preservatives, and scientifically developed ingredients and combinations to bring you that flavour and smell consistent around the globe. Clever. But not healthy.
Let's break it down.
A wholesome burger should look something like this:
- Sourdough or high fibre or gluten free bread - essentially: flour, water, baking soda/culture, salt (and occasionally a little sugar).
- Beef pattie: 100% beef, maybe some onion, garlic, pepper and salt.
- Lettuce: lettuce
- Tomato Sauce: tomato paste, herbs, garlic, onion, a little water, sea salt.
- Cheese: milk, salt, rennet, cultures.
- Real onion and pickles.
A wholesome strawberry shake should be something like this:
- Fresh strawberries, milk of choice, maybe some vanilla extract.
A wholesome fries:
- Potato, pure high heat oil, sea salt, herbs/spices

The ONLY wholefood part of the meal is the beef and the lettuce. Which we all know the lettuce is incredibly wilted and/or picked out of the bun anyway. There are much better options for you than Maccas. But you knew that already...
