Friday Night In with Samuel from Fit Fresh Meals
My introduction to Fresh Fit Meals was through a friend. He is a personal trainer, and takes his nutrition pretty seriously. He also eats a lot. When he told me about FFM, and how he was impressed with their taste and pricing, I thought I better look into it for you!
Fresh Fit Meals was started up by Samuel (PT pictured), Richard, and Richard (yes, there's two!). All of their meals are gluten and dairy free which was really exciting for me. They also stock protein bars and cold pressed juices. The fresh food is delivered Monday and Thursday for Sydney only, or you can pick up if that's easier.
I spoke with Samuel to discuss a bit more about how it all started for tonight's Friday Night In! See some of the meals I tried below and my comments.
Tell us a little about yourself…
A country boy at heart but after 13 years in Sydney I am starting to enjoy the city life, I mean how can you not with all the amazing cafes, beaches and events that Sydney has to offer. I have been a Personal Trainer for over 6 years and love the fact I can have a positive and healthy impact on my clients lives.
How did Fresh Fit Meals come about?
The idea was born from the inability of my time poor clients to follow a sustainable diet/lifestyle and the frustration of being unable to find fresh, nutritionally balanced and tasty meals at a reasonable price.
The most rewarding part of your job?
That I can help so many people feel better about themselves through influencing their mindset towards a healthy lifestyle.
What haven’t you done yet that you wish you could?
Mount Everest base camp– it’s always been a dream to see something so beautiful yet so unforgiving at the same time.

Anywhere next to the ocean is good enough for me

Soy and Linseed toast with avocado, cottage cheese, onion, tomato and 4 organic eggs
How would you classify your eating style?
Fresh, Healthy and convenient… Thanks to Fresh Fit Meals ha ha
Your favourite way to stay active?
Hard to beat the Bondi to Coogee run followed by a swim on a beautiful sunny day.
What’s your favourite dish on the menu?
Maple Cured Pork Salad with Lentil and Quinoa Salad with an apple Cider Vinegar dressing. Good for Lunch or Dinner and can be served Cold or Hot.
Your best advice for living a wholesome, healthy lifestyle?
For me it’s all about balance, don’t be too hard on yourself and try to appreciate the simple things that each day brings.
Where do you deliver your meals?
We have just expanded our locations and can cover most of Sydney, with delivery to home or office.
What’s next for Fresh Fit meals?
For us it’s about focusing on producing consistently awesome food and hopefully the rest should fall into place.

So Samuel kindly delivered some of the meals for me to try. I wasn't disappointed! They're fresh, as if you'd made them yourself for lunch. They're filling - actually, two of them were too big for me, but great for guys training hard. They had a great taste, not too overly seasoned, or underdone. Really natural, fresh tasting food with good flavours. These guys live up to their name!
