Three of the best apps to keep you fighting fit throughout 2015

Many of us entered 2015 with the “new year, new me” resolution. After the excessive consumption over the festive season, we said we’d jump straight into the new healthy lifestyle and never look back. That was all well and good, until the first Saturday night of January came along, until your friend’s birthday, until the Australia Day festivities, until today. It’s always hard getting back on track, so we’ve gathered three of the best apps to keep you motivated and crunching those fitness goals right through to the end of 2015!
Just as their slogan states, this app is your personal trainer for anytime and anywhere. With over 100 workouts designed by Nike Master Trainers, the Nike+ Training Club offers something for everyone looking to get fit. Whether your goal is to get lean, toned or strong, the 4-week programs offer a list of workouts to target specific areas of the body varying from beginner levels to advanced. Alongside the workout programs, the app’s ‘Sports Feed’ provides you with the opportunity to get tips from pro athletes, share your workouts and connect with friends. Keep track of your active minutes and workouts and smash those goals! As Nike says… Just Do It.
This app is basically Instagram with a ‘fitness freaks only’ rule. Fitspo is an image sharing-based app that allows you to follow other people with the same mindset and goals. Forget about scrolling through pictures that will tempt you or sway your motivation, Fitspo focuses solely on health, fitness and wellbeing. Aside from inspirational quotes and progress shots, Fitspo allows users to swap valuable health and motivation tips through their chat feature. Be motivated by other people’s meals and workout plans, and be inspired by their results. Soon enough it will feel like everyone around you is working towards the same thing and it will be impossible for you to lose sight of your goals!
Probably the quirkiest of all the fitness apps out there, but also the smartest. Zombies, Run! 3 literally gets you “running for your life”. With 40 missions to complete, you get a HIIT workout as you out-run hordes of zombies in order to collect supplies to survive the apocalypse. This zombie chase simulation makes for an adrenaline-packed work out that is anything but boring. Plug in your headphones, pick your playlist, and… zombies, run!
