Code Black – Melbourne wholefood café review
Code black is a hidden gem that sits on Weston Street in Brunswick. A reconverted warehouse which is also a coffee bean roasting house, is a laboratory for all coffee connoisseurs. However if coffee is not your thing this trendy little place that just screams Melbourne, has a tantalising menu that will suit anyone’s taste.
Code Blacks menu is nothing ordinary, with the front of the menu stating “Proudly Serving the Sublime and the Ridiculous”. Offering wholesome dishes like smashed peas with smoked trout, to the lip- licking coffee glazed bacon, this place has something for everyone’s taste AND dietary requirement, offering options for vegans, vegetarians and gluten free. The food at Code Black not only is fresh and elegant, but the combination of flavours is very unique, offering wholesome dishes like smashed peas with smoked trout, to the lip- licking coffee glazed bacon. This place has something for everyone’s taste AND dietary requirement, offering options for vegans, vegetarians and gluten free.
Note: A word of warning, you may want to come here with a friend or two as the serving sizes are quite generous portions.
It would not be a Melbourne café review without mentioning the coffee. Like most cafes Code Black offers a range of black and milk coffees. They also have a seasonal house blend for black and milk coffees which changes regularly. But if coffee is not your thing, Code Black also offers a delicious range of fruit smoothies and seasonal green teas.
For your next brunch date be sure to bring a friend or more along because you may want to share everything that this menu has to offer.
