As we say goodbye to Winter, warmer days and the endless Summers are fast approaching. If you may have over indulged during the cooler months the bombardment of “bikini body” plans and “get fit for Summer” advertisements may leave you with a sense of guilt and possibly self-worthlessness. So this spring I urge you to avoid the fad diet trap, ignore the seduction ofthose “detoxes” because that is why you have a liver. Instead use these 4 simple steps as the beginning to “Spring Clean” your lifestyle to something more sustainable without any guilt.

Your liver works tirelessly for you every single day detoxifying substances which may be harmful to you if allowed to accumulate, these can come from external sources such as pollution, pesticides, alcohol, drugs, caffeine (yep, I said it), refined sugars and trans fats or made within the body itself such as hormones like cholesterol and oestrogen or bile salts from fat metabolism. This all occurs whether you are doing a detox diet or not!

These days, it seems the focus of a ‘healthy’ diet is based on what all the celebs are doing, what looks good on Instagram and what sounds good on Facebook. Unfortunately, this obsession with fad diets has resulted in people following trends that aren’t necessarily suited to their body’s needs. And so the profound ignorance to food intolerances were born!
For those of you who thought consuming glucose with fructose or fructan containing foods would help with absorption, this has now been shown to make symptoms worse, not better!
